Host Michelle Marques talks with Andrew Bailey, Founder and CEO of Anova Center for Education in Santa Rosa. Anova is a school serving students on the autism spectrum. In October 2017, the Tubbs Fire swept through large portions of Sonoma County, destroying thousands of structures, including the Anova campus at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts. A capital campaign was started in 2019 to rebuild a new center, with over half of the funds collected so far. They have an additional $9-million to $10-million to raise to complete the project. In this episode of The Good Stuff presented by the Sonoma County Winegrowers, hosts Virginie Boone and Karissa Kruse talk with Paul Sloan, Vigneron and Owner of Small Vines Wines. Paul talks about his early experience with wine and how that led him to pursue winemaking in California. Paul decided early on that his style leaned more towards an old-school French style of winemaking, and he really wanted to grow only the highest quality fruit with very low yields, not typical of sprawling California Vineyards. He spaces his rows much closer to each other to achieve this goal. The resulting wines are full of character and complexity. And finally, Virginie and Karissa share their Tuesday Night wine picks.

Host Clark Wolf talks with Martin Maigaard, the new chef/owner of The Wild Poppy just outside of Sebastopol. The restaurant is taking over the charming spot that until recently was the home of Fork Roadhouse. Martin and his wife are from Kansas, but lived here in Sonoma County in the early 2010s, before heading back to Kansas. They knew they wanted to return, and the perfect opportunity opened up when this beautiful spot became available. Their menu features their own tofu and other products, as well as farm to table produce and other local ingredients. The spot will open mid April. Follow them to get all of the updates!

Changing jobs can be very stressful and there is a temptation to stay where you are, especially if you can show your current boss that someone else is interested and wants to pay you more. However, increased pay doesn't solve the underlying issues you have at your current job. If management at your current job is a nightmare, they will still be a nightmare even if you get more money. The new company believes in you enough to take the time to find you, and pick you out of all the candidates they interviewed. They want to train you, pay you more money, and see you succeed. And if you do accept a counter offer, you now have a boss who knows you've been looking elsewhere and they are more likely to let you go as soon as they have found another person who will do the job for less.
