Sonoma County Focus – Sonoma County Imagination Library

sonomacountyfocussquare

Host Michelle Marques talks with Angie Dillon-Shore, Executive Director of First 5 Sonoma County about the launch of Sonoma County's new Dolly Parton's Imagination Library! This incredible program puts free books into the hands of children ages 0 to 5 years old. Each month, children are sent a book that is age appropriate, and it is theirs to keep, to read with their family, and to cherish as they build language skills and a love for reading. Books are available in English and in bilingual English-Spanish versions. The Dollywood Foundation makes this program possible, along with the Community Foundation Sonoma County, First 5 Sonoma County, and support from the State of California. A personal library of books in the home is proven to positively benefit very young children in so many ways. They learn cognitive skills, language skills, improved imagination and creativity, and increase nurturing relationships with their caregivers.

Sign up your child today at www.sonomacf.org/scil! You can also donate to help support this amazing program. Because of generous support from a variety of organizations, it only costs about $13 per year for a child to get a free book every month. Donate $65 and you can fund 5 years of books for a child!!

Ask the Expert: Dr. Walter Tom – Skin Care for the Bohemian

aesthetic

Dr. Walter Tom of Dr. Tom Cosmetic Surgery talks with KSRO's Michelle Marques and Paris, patient coordinator and director of product education, about Michelle's experience getting a hydrafacial. Dr. Tom characterizes Michelle as a 'bohemian' who is less concerned with complicated skin regimens. Michelle describes the experience, which involved multiple steps, and the care that medical aesthetician Hilary Bucher took with each step. Some of the things Michelle experienced included cleansing, light peels, deep cleansing with the suction tool as well as simultaneous hydration, a soothing mask with LED lights, and a relaxing facial massage. She absolutely loved the experience and felt pampered and glowing after it was done! Michelle also decided to buy some of Dr. Tom's Quench serum to include in her skin care routine, and told Dr. Tom she will try to avoid using bar soap to clean her face, after Paris and Dr. Tom explained why is it not ideal for the delicate skin of the face.
