Two California lawmakers are urging Governor Brown to outlaw any new fossil fuel operations. Representative Ro Khana says he and Representative Barbara Lee refuse to ignore the negative impacts oil refineries have on the surrounding communities.

They sent a letter to Brown ahead of the Global Climate Action Summit next week in San Francisco. Khana says the number of oil wells in the state pose numerous short term and long term health risks. He says he hopes to see Brown make a big announcement at the summit, showing concrete plans to transition to renewable energy.
