Sonoma County residents will vote on a new sales tax to fund city and county parks this fall. Measure M, also called the “The Sonoma County Parks Improvement, Water Quality, and Fire Safety Measure” would impose a one-eighth cent tax on sales around the county for ten years. Park officials say it would raise over 11-million-dollars a year. The funds would go toward replacing playgrounds, renovating athletic fields and developing new bike trails. Measure M would be the first dedicated funding source for 56 regional parks in the county. It will appear on the November 6th ballot.
