In Sonoma, Rachel Hundley, who had a tough campaign marked by the posting of some photos of her at Burning Man, won the top spot for the city council. Hundley says she’s looking toward the future:

Hundley, Logan Harvey and Madolyn Agrimonti are the top 3 vote-getters in Sonoma.

In other council news, John Sawyer beat out Lee Pierce to keep his seat on the Santa Rosa City Council, Tom Schwedhelm ran unopposed. In Windsor, Esther Lemus was the top vote-getter:

Also in Windsor, Sam Salmon and Dominic Foppoli round out the top 3 for a victory.

The race to take Mayor Chris Coursey’s seat on the Santa Rosa City Council is a close one: Victoria Fleming has a slight lead over Dorothy Beattie: 169 votes separate the two. The remaining absentee ballots will still need to be counted, according to Fleming:

Candidate Mary Watts was a distant third in the voting.

California voters are rejecting Proposition 10, which would have enabled local governments to enact rent-control laws. James Rojas reports.

Democratic Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom is going to become the 40th Governor of California. He gave his victory speech after his opponent, Republican businessman John Cox, called him to concede from the race.

Newsom has been a staunch opponent of President Donald Trump and has promised to continue the resistance movement against his policies. Eleni Kounalakis has been voted in as California’s first female lieutenant governor.

Incumbent Senator Dianne Feinstein will maintain her seat in Congress. Feinstein said during a victory speech Tuesday night the state needs strong representation.

Feinstein was up against fellow Democrat Kevin De Leon. Feinstein has held the position since 1992 and went into the race with a steady lead in the polls.
