Another San Quentin Inmate Dies from Coronavirus

Officials at San Quentin Prison say that another inmate has died from coronavirus complications. Jeffery Hawkins, who was sentenced to death for two murders in Sacramento County, died yesterday at an outside hospital. Hawkins is the 11th inmate death at the prison linked to the coronavirus. According to officials from the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, 37 state inmates with confirmed cases of the coronavirus have died. Out of the 6,571 cases among inmates, over 1,200 of them have been at San Quentin.
