In a historic first, the University of California has admitted its most diverse first-year class. Admissions data released yesterday show Latinx students representing the largest ethnic group of admitted freshman this fall. Latinx students account for 36% of admitted freshmen, followed by 35% Asian Americans, whites at 21% and Black students at 5%. The number of admitted low-income or first-generation students also increased within the university system.
