Several California counties could qualify for a less-restrictive reopening tier by the end of the day. Governor Gavin Newsom expects the state to meet its goal of vaccinating two-million residents in low-income, hard-hit communities today. If that happens, the requirements counties must meet to advance in the color-coded reopening strategy will be relaxed. This means restaurants and gyms in counties like Los Angeles, Sacramento, and Sonoma could reopen indoors, at a reduced capacity, sooner than anticipated. They’re on the cusp of advancing into the less-restrictive Red Tier. The official transition to less restrictive tiers would still need to be announced by each county. In that Red Tier, counties can also reopen theme parks and outdoor sporting venues to fans at a limited capacity beginning April 1st.
