Convention center leaders are still waiting on statewide guidelines for trade shows and conventions in California. Visit Sacramento’s Mike Testa says he is disappointed the recent update failed to address those large events.
“We’re frustrated, We’re disappointed,” says Testa. “We want the timeline, we want the guidelines. They’ve created those for other industries but conventions seemed to have been lost in this conversation during Covid.”
For every month California delays opening for large events, the state is losing four-point-one-billion dollars in revenue. The state’s health department hasn’t indicated when it’ll be issuing guidelines for that sector of the event industry. Starting April 15th, indoor events of up to 200 people can resume depending on the county’s tier status.
