The campaign to recall Windsor Mayor Dominic Foppoli is underway.
A few steps need to be done before signatures can be gathered. The first step is filing a notice of intention to recall with the town clerk. Deva Marie Proto, Sonoma County’s registrar of voters says that once petitions have been approved, the campaign can start gathering signatures. The campaign would need at minimum 3,376 signatures. However, Windsor may not get the recall on the ballot until spring 2022. Foppoli’s current term as Mayor is up for election that November.
Meanwhile, the state Attorney General’s Office will take over the investigation into sexual assault allegations against Mayor Foppoli. Sonoma County DA Jill Ravitch asked the state to step in yesterday after a member of her own staff came forward with sexual assault allegations against Foppoli over the weekend. On Saturday, Esther Lemus, who is a deputy district attorney in Ravitch’s office, became the sixth woman to publicly accuse Foppoli of sexual assault.
