Pfizer Vaccine Could Be Approved for Children 12 to 15 in Sonoma County Soon

More than 23,000 of Sonoma County’s kids may soon become eligible for the coronavirus vaccine. On Monday, the FDA granted the Pfizer vaccine emergency use authorization for children between the ages of 12 and 15. The county granted 16 and 17-year-olds eligibility shortly after the FDA approved the vaccine for that age group last month. Sonoma County Vaccine Chief Dr. Urmila Shende says local officials will probably do the same for those aged 12 through 15, once the CDC and the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup recommends the age group expansion. A CDC advisory committee will hold an emergency meeting about the topic tomorrow.
