Today is the day California relaxes most of its coronavirus-related restrictions. As cases and hospitalizations continue to drop, California is lifting most of its restrictions on capacity and social distancing. Businesses are now able to return to usual operations, and fully-vaccinated people can ditch their masks in most settings. However, face coverings will still be required in certain places, like on public transportation, in healthcare facilities, K-12 schools, prisons and homeless shelters.
As for Sonoma County, they will align with the state’s reopening plan. Officials reiterated this point citing that we are ready to reopen thanks to getting people vaccinated and bringing down our case counts here in Sonoma County and across the state. Sonoma County Health officer Dr. Sundari Mase still urges caution, especially for unvaccinated persons.
“We have done a great job of getting shots into the arms of most of our residents,” Dr. Mase said. “But our work is not done. We are in the long tail of our vaccination campaign, and we will continue to reach out to offer this vital vaccine to anyone who wants it, in many cases bringing it to where they live, work and play.”
Dr. Mase says the best thing you can do to be safe from the pandemic is get the vaccine. There is no shortages of vaccines and you can even get a same day appointment. More information on the vaccines, including for pop up clinics, can be found at SoCoEmergency.Org.
