A person is dead after a fiery car crash off Highway 101 in south Santa Rosa. CHP and the Santa Rosa Fire Department responded to reports of a car fire early Saturday morning in the parking lot of Bed Bath & Beyond on Santa Rosa Avenue. They found a Toyota Camry on its roof engulfed in flames with a person inside who was later pronounced dead. The CHP determined that the Camry was traveling northbound on Highway 101 when it drifted onto the right shoulder, lost control and veered into a ditch. The vehicle flipped and came to a rest after it crashed through a chain-link fence and hit two trees. The person inside hasn’t been identified and authorities have not revealed why the driver lost control.
