A statewide vaccine mandate for students will take effect next year and families in Sonoma County have expressed opposition. About 200 parents and children gathered outside of the Sonoma County Office of Education yesterday morning to protest the mandate. County education officials didn’t dispute parents’ right to protest but did express disappointment that the protest involved keeping students out of the classroom. The mandate won’t take effect until the school term that starts after the FDA’s full approval of the vaccine for children 12 and older.
