Latest data from the state’s department of public health indicates that 29-percent of the county’s 34,596 children between the ages of 5 and 11 have received at least one COVID-19 shot. That is 10 points better than the state average of 19-percent. Compared to the Bay Area, though, Sonoma appears lacking, ranking 7th out of 9 for vaccinations in that age group. Local health officials hope that as many as 50-percent of children 5 to 11 will be vaccinated by January 30th, and 70-percent by the end of February.
