Though still significantly high, active cases in Sonoma County continue to drop.

Cases peaked at just under 27-thousand on January 28th. Now over a week later, that number has dropped to 16,744, down over ten-thousand active cases. In a press release, Health Officer Dr. Sundari Mase said “The numbers are trending in the right direction, and there are clear signs that we are now past the peak of the winter surge in COVID-19 cases.” That said, the county has reiterated that they will not extend the restrictions on large gatherings beyond February 10th.

Unfortunately, it’s not all good news as three more covid related deaths have been reported. That brings the death toll in Sonoma County to 448.
