Covid cases in Sonoma County continue their decline.  After peaking at just under 27-thousand cases in late January, active cases in the county now stand at 1,336, which is just about where cases were when the Omicron surge began. Active cases, though, are slightly up by just under 300 active cases from the same time last year. Three more deaths have been reported bringing the death toll in Sonoma County to 481. Local health officials have seen at least five cases of the new covid variant, BA.2, also known “stealth omicron” or “Deltacron” which appears to be almost as contagious as measles.
