Sutter Health employees in Santa Rosa and throughout Northern California plan to strike today. The eight-thousand-plus nurses and other healthcare workers at 15 facilities are protesting what they call dangerous conditions for patients and staff members, including under staffing. They’re also hoping the one-day strike speeds up contract talks. A spokesperson for the employees says Sutter Health didn’t give them enough PPE at the start of the pandemic. They now want the company to stockpile PPE to have for the future.
