Today, the Rohnert Park City Council will discuss filling the council seat soon to be left vacant by the departure of Vice Mayor Willy Linares. Linares is stepping down May 25th, but he could be gone sooner if the council picks a replacement. Linares represents District One in the southwestern part of the city. The councilman, who has more than two years left on his term, is resigning to spend more time with his growing family. Rohnert Park must fill the vacancy by appointment or call for a special election within 60 days of Linares’ resignation. That would place the deadline in mid-July.
