The Sonoma County Department of Health Services will scale back its COVID-19 response staff starting Friday. A staff of about 60 temporary DHS employees that have been working to fight the pandemic will be reduced by a third. It comes with millions of dollars in government-issued pandemic funding running out Thursday. Some of the county’s health partners, as they’re called, weren’t notified they’d no longer be needed until last week. But, some health partners resigned several weeks ago, knowing the county would be cutting staff soon.
