This is the day California stops recommending masks for most people. Guidelines are changing for the first time in seven months as the spread of COVID slows down. The state will now only urge masking up when a county’s hospitalization level jumps up again. Right now, only three Central Valley counties are still high. Mandates are also ending for jails, prisons, homeless shelters, and cooling centers but not for hospital workers and patients.
