California’s state of emergency is coming to an end. It will officially be over on February 28th, giving hospitals extra time to handle any COVID surge after the holidays. Governor Gavin Newsom says it was an “effective and necessary tool” to protect millions of people but he’s ready to phase it out. He feels cities and counties are prepared with vaccines, testing, treatments, and other safety measures such as masking and indoor ventilation.
