Voters who want to keep fireworks legal in Cloverdale haven’t seen their hopes go up in smoke just yet. The latest election results, released Tuesday, show those in favor of the ban are now ahead by just 36 votes. Yes votes were in the lead by ten-percent of the vote a week ago. The ban needs a 50-percent majority to pass. If it does pass, Cloverdale will no longer allow firework sales and private use of safe-and-sane fireworks around the Fourth of July. Cloverdale is the only city in Sonoma County without a complete fireworks ban, aside from permitting professional shows.
