A proposal and environmental impact report surrounding the Sonoma Developmental Center could be approved today. The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors are holding a special meeting today at 10 AM to determine the future of the developmental center. The plan put forward by the Sonoma County Planning commission calls for a thousand housing units to be constructed, new public facilities such as a fire station and community center, and Open space protection for 700 acres and preservation of Sonoma Creek. Public comment will be welcomed during the meeting. If the plan is approved, the California Department of General Services will move forward in selecting a developer.
