Nearly eleven-hundred Sonoma County residents have now applied for post-storm assistance through a new 300-thousand-dollar pilot program. The cash assistance program is meant to make sure the county’s most vulnerable residents recover from recent torrential rainstorms and wind. Two recovery support centers in Healdsburg and Guerneville were open for applications between Sunday and Wednesday. The centers became inundated with applications and stopped taking them at about midday Wednesday. Residents who suffered economic setbacks because of the recent severe winter weather qualify. That includes those who lost wages because they couldn’t get to work due to road or business closures.
