A North Bay Congressman isn’t getting his hopes up for President’s Biden’s call for a bipartisan bill on banning assault weapons. Congressman Mike Thompson, who is also the chair of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, tells the Press Democrat “There’s not a chance” of that happening with this congress citing the Republican controled House. Thompson did comend the President, though, for “not backing down from his beliefs” and addressing the issue at the State of the Union. Thompson has recently re-introduced a bipartisan backgrounds check bill with Republican co-sponsor Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania.
