Wildfire victims looking for additional money from PG&E have been denied. Tubbs Fire victim and advocate Will Abrams lead a motion arguing for PG&E to add money to the underfunded Fire Victims Trust. He argued they were entitled to additional funds because false company statements inflated its stock value ahead of PG&E’s 2019 bankruptcy. Judge Dennis Montali, however, ruled against Abrams and victims’ lawyers, saying the amendment of claims went against legal precedent and could undo the bankruptcy agreement. As of the end of February, the $13.5 billion dollar trust has paid out over $8.5 billion dollars to claimants.
