Changes to Sonoma County’s well ordinance are on the way. The Board of Supervisors gave initial approval to amendments to the county’s Well Ordinance, which would create a new regulatory process for approving well permits. This includes allowing the new agency to analyze and mitigate all potential risks to waterways before approving a well permit. The board also voted to extend the current six-month moratorium on new, non-emergency well permits to allow staff time to update the ordinance. The board is scheduled to fully approve these changes on April 18th.
