The Healdsburg City council is making some noteworthy moves. First, the council voted unanimously to end the water conservation mandate that required residents to cut overall water usage by 20-percent. This also means residents will no longer have to pay a monthly 6-percent water-shortage surcharge. Next, the council approved a contract with DMG Builders that gets Healdsburg closer to opening a licensed preschool program at the Healdsburg Community Center. Cost for the necessary upgrades at the Community Center total over a half-million dollars. Lastly, the council approved a tentative map for the Saggio Hills affordable housing development. The 260-acre site in northern Healdsburg will include 118 units of affordable housing as well as a community building, outdoor amphitheater, children’s playground, a community garden, connections to local trails and 173 parking spaces.
