Kaiser in Santa Rosa Achieves Net-Zero Energy

A Kaiser Permanente medical facility in Santa Rosa is the first healthcare facility in the U.S. to achieve net-zero energy. That’s according to an announcement from the U.S. Department of Energy. It means the building produces enough renewable energy to meet its own annual consumption, without emitting greenhouse gases. The five-year-old medical facility on Mercury Way runs on fully electric power without burning fossil fuels. It has solar panels, special pumps that regulate temperature and hot water, and insulation and windows that adjust to the sun.
