State lawmakers from the North Bay are speaking out after Thursday’s shooting threat at the State Capitol. A man was arrested Thursday afternoon, on suspicion of firing shots in two cities near Sacramento, then making a threat to the capitol building. Senate Majority Leader Mike McGuire and State Senator Bill Dodd, both from the North Bay, opted not to report to the Capitol for a morning session on the Senate floor due to the threat. McGuire tells the Press Democrat acts of violence have become too commonplace across the nation and in California, adding that threats need to be taken incredibly seriously. Dodd says the incident highlights a need to come to common ground on what must be done about guns.
