Sonoma County Supervisors Declare Drought is Over

The drought is officially over in Sonoma County. On Tuesday, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors voted to end the local drought emergency after two years. Tuesday’s vote comes after the region received more than three feet of rain since October 1st. The 41-inch rain total is about ten inches more than the seasonal average. Sonoma County got out of the U.S. Drought Monitor’s abnormally dry status in mid-March. Lake Sonoma and Lake Mendocino are back at a healthy water supply as well. At the start of the rain year in October, they both were at or near historic lows.
