The woman accused of lying about a couple trying to kidnap her two kids at a craft store in Petaluma is now walking back her claims. Katie Sorenson took the witness stand during the third day of her trial on Thursday. She told the court she misinterpreted the events on that day in December of 2020. She claims, at the time, her intent was to report behavior she felt was suspicious, but admits time and evidence have proven her one and four-year-old kids were never in danger. Sorenson also said her apprehension and uneasiness about the pandemic affected her understanding of her surroundings. Prosecutors paint a different picture, saying she made up a story to boost her social media following.
