The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will consider amending the county’s zoning code to clarify its rules on timeshares. The changes, which will be discussed Monday, would create standards and definitions for timeshares. It would also clarify that short-term use of a fractionally-owned residential property is considered a timeshare use. Fractionally-owned residential properties are homes owned by several people. Finally, the amendments would specify where timeshare properties are permitted. The proposed changes are in response to residents’ complaints about the impacts short-term use of fractionally-owned properties have on housing supply, neighborhood character, noise, parking, and traffic.
