Two from the Jackson Family Gets Recognized for Climate Crisis Work

Two daughters of the late winemaker Jess Jackson and his wife Barbara Banke are being recognized for their efforts to combat the climate crisis. Congressman Mike Thompson has named Julia and Katie Jackson as the 2023 Sonoma County Climate Crisis Champions for California’s Fourth District. Thompson cited Julia’s efforts as a board member of the California Department of Food and Agriculture. She also launched two environmental advocacy groups: Grounded and the Clean Energy Freedom campaign. Meanwhile, Katie has helped Jackson Family Wines to become the largest onsite solar energy generating winery in the United States. Katie is also pushing for reforms in the international wine community to promote environmental stewardship.
