Sonoma County Government Workers Approve New Contract

Sonoma County’s largest government workers’ union has a new contract. On Wednesday, members of Service Employees International Union Local 1021 officially ratified a new three-year deal with the county. The contract features pay raises, better benefits for part-time workers, and higher pay for fluent, bilingual employees. Voting took place for more than two weeks, with 92-percent of union members voting in favor of the contract. The union represents about 23-hundred of the county’s some four-thousand employees. Sonoma County has the largest local government workforce in the North Bay. The County Board of Supervisors will vote on the contract on May 9th.
