A new report shows Sonoma County doesn’t have enough housing to meet its needs. The 2023 State of Housing in Sonoma County says that’s largely because its housing production hasn’t met population trends for more than two decades. The report also blames a historical emphasis on zoning for single-family homes. The report, produced by North Bay research and advocacy group Generation Housing, will officially be released today. It also says Sonoma County’s housing shortage contributes to persistent inequities related to race, family size and income.
