More than 230 of Sonoma County’s businesses overcharged customers in the past year. County officials say more than a third of the 401 businesses that were inspected failed price accuracy checks. The total number of businesses overcharging people, 232, is a ten-percent increase from previous years. The businesses all received a notice of violation, then, upon re-inspection, 170 of them were still overcharging customers. County officials are urging shoppers to double check their sales receipts.
