Armed Robber in Rohnert Park Prompts Brief Lockdown

A robbery in Rohnert Park prompts a brief lockdown at nearby businesses and schools. Late Thursday morning, a person entered a store in the University Square shopping center and asked to purchase something. As the employee opened the cash register, the suspect pulled out a handgun from his waistband and demanded money. The suspect then fled on foot northbound through the shopping center with an undisclosed amount of cash. He’s described as a black male, about 20 years old, 6-feet tall, “lean” build, wearing a grey and black hooded sweatshirt with a multi-color caricature on the front, blue jeans, black and white shoes, a black belt bag/fanny pack across his chest, and a yellow surgical mask covering his face. Out of an abundance of caution, area schools, businesses, and residents were asked to shelter in place while officers and the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office helicopter attempted to locate the suspect.
