Petaluma Police have arrested a homeless man for attacking another person with a baseball bat. Just before noon on Wednesday, a man who was sitting on a bench at Steamer Landing was approached by another man who began attacking him with the bat. After being hit several times, the suspect fled the area on foot and the victim called 9-1-1. The victim suffered minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene. Police identified the suspect as 41-year-old Jason Weiland, and, later that night, police patrolling the area of Steamer Landing found him with another homeless person. He was arrested without incident.
