Sonoma County officials are seeing a spike in overdoses from tranq-laced fentanyl. In just one week, Petaluma Valley Hospital had three patients, all in their twenties, come in after overdosing. CBS Bay Area reports that all three did not survive. Xylazine, also known as “tranq” or “tranq dope,” is usually used by veterinarians to anesthetize animals. While some lives can be saved with Narcan, a medication that can quickly reverse a drug overdose, the medication rarely ever works on those who take tranq.
