California Reaches $17-Billion Settlement with Drug Makers and Pharmacies for Opioid Crisis

California is getting 17-billion dollars to fight the opioid crisis. It’s part of a settlement agreement with drug makers Teva and Allergen, along with CVS and Walgreens pharmacies. Attorney General Rob Bonta says nothing can bring back the lives lost or erase the suffering, but the state is “making sure those who caused it and profited from it are held to account for their greed and willful misconduct.” The money will be distributed later this year.
