Items confiscated from Alexander Whitfield (Santa Rosa Police)
A homeless man has been in arrested in Howarth Park for possessing a handgun. On Friday afternoon, police noticed a man alone in his vehicle watching several people at the baseball fields at Howarth Park. Police contacted the man, 21-year-old Alexander Whitfield, and saw the handle of a large buck knife near the passenger floorboard. Given Whitfield’s history of threatening suicide by cop, he was detained. He told police he had a gun in the vehicle and wanted to die. Police found a .38 special revolver which was registered to another person from El Cerrito. Whitfield was arrested for multiple firearm related charges.
