Sonoma County Evaluates $2.19-Billion Budget Starting Tomorrow

Starting tomorrow, Sonoma County Supervisors begin debating the county’s proposed $2.19-billion dollar budget. The Board will look to decrease some of the pandemic era spending and patch up the county’s strained 4000-member workforce. They face a 2.2-percent decrease from the current fiscal budget which ends on June 30th. Reasons for the belt tightening include high inflation and interest rates as well as diminishing revenue from property taxes. The Sonoma County Budget meetings could take over a week.
