Residents in the Upper Mark West Springs watershed now have a little more experience when it comes to preparing for evacuations. On Sunday, residents had the option of taking part in a simulated evacuation drill hosted by the Sonoma County Department of Emergency Management. People practiced securing their homes and leaving with their most valuable possessions in a matter of minutes after hearing emergency sirens go off. Then they drove to Maria Carrillo High School, which served as the evacuation center. The simulated evacuation order mimicked a wildfire being in the area. More than 100 people took part in the drill.
