Santa Rosa’s independent police auditor has issued its first comprehensive report on SRPD’s handling of internal investigations since being hired late in 2021. OIR Group raised few red flags overall but did find room for improvement. In its 45-page report, OIR group called for a strengthening of investigative procedures, more formal interviews, and less reliance on body cam footage. Police chief John Cregan says he welcomes the constructive feedback and that the review is a key to his goal, of building trust with the community.
