Sonoma County law enforcement helped carry the Special Olympics torch. The flame is heading to Santa Clara for the Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games beginning this Friday. It began its journey through Sonoma County last Friday with the Healdsburg Police Department. The torch was then handed off to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office before going to several departments yesterday: Santa Rosa Police, Rohnert Park Public Safety, Cotati Police, SSU Police, the CHP, and finally Petaluma Police. As well as raising awareness for the Special Olympics, law enforcement raised thousands of dollars… over $15-thousand was raised between Santa Rosa and Petaluma police departments alone.
