Firefighters are making good progress in their battle against a vegetation fire in eastern Napa. The so-called “Coombsville Fire” was reported at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon and burned eight-and-a-half-acres of land. But, by four p.m., it was about 80-percent contained. The fire prompted brief mandatory evacuation orders for some residents and for students and staff at Silverado Middle School. Cal Fire crews were expected to stay at the scene overnight. There were also two smaller wildfires in Lake County on Wednesday.
