A new Sonoma County coastal plan is moving forward. Supervisors approved a new plan that regulates land use and protects resources along the 55-mile shoreline. The Local Coastal Plan addresses changing conditions on the coast that have developed over the past several decades. Among other things, it includes adapting to climate change like sea level rise, protecting water resources, and conserving coastal ecosystems. The plan now heads to the California Coastal Commission for review.
