California’s energy grid is facing a bit of stress for the first time this summer. The California Independent System Operator issued an Energy Emergency Alert One at 7:30 Thursday night. Cal-ISO officials cite high heat and a higher-than-anticipated power demand. Just a few hours earlier, Cal-ISO said grid conditions were stable and it did not anticipate any energy supply shortages. The alert was in effect for an hour and was cancelled after the sun went down.
